If Heaven Forbids (CA - Saber)

Henry looked over at Amos. " True. Normally, it isn't, but my mother went into business." He started.

" Slowly she rised in rank and actually owns the company now. Currently she's in the middle of purchasing another company, just continuing to grow her little empire. And she actually owns three houses right now, she just bought the third one in more recent years. I told her to sell the second one but just like the first she's just so attached to it, I don't really get it."

Riley started to beam. " I'm so glad she kept it though, I love getting to see your childhood home."

Henry rolled his eyes. " Tch. You would," he muttered under his breath. Even though his voice came out sounding annoyed, a corner of his lip raised into a small smirk.

Amos seemed more intrigued as Henry spoke - that is, his gaze remained steadfast and didn't shift around the room.

"What's your mother's name?" He asked.

Henry glanced over at Amos, looking a bit annoyed over the question. " ...Under normal circumstances I would tell you, but with everything going on I hope you understand if I don't."

Amos' gaze finally altered, and he looked again about the room as if tired or bored.

"I think I know her..." he said quietly, looking at the picture on the table one more.

" Well if you're familiar with the business scene I guess you might." Henry stated evenly.

Riley was just about finished with his Redbull as he turned back to Henry. " Your dad is in business too, isn't he?"

Henry glared at Riley. " Taboo topic, remember?"

" Yeah, I was just wondering.. He is in business though, isn't he?"

Henry just responded with a frustrated sigh.

Supposing the topic had drifted into dangerous territory once more, Amos withdrew to another.

"What do you do, Henry?"

Henry just stared at Amos for a moment.

"  Sit here and wait for my arm to heal." He responded flatly. " Tell me, what do you do Amos?"

" I play music." Amos replied with equal frankness. Following this reply, he made no other attempt to instigate the conversation further...

Riley perked up at the mention of music. " Oh- oh yeah!! I forgot to tell you Amos- Since you like music I was gunna tell you that Saber was in a band in high school!"

" -It was only for a month as backup." Henry interjected.

" But still, you guys can talk about instruments and stuff, right?" Riley looked eagerly at Henry and Amos with a innocent twinkle in his eye.

Henry shook his head. " No Riley, I'm not musically inclined at all. I don't even like music that much. You'd probably understand music talk more than I would."

" Oh... Well you draw at least. Amos, you like art, don't you?" Riley was back to eyeing his friends hopelessly hopeful of finding a connection between them.

Amos looked at Riley blankly for a moment before slowly shaking his head. What was art but more of the same world reinterpreted by another man's daydream? Sometimes, missing the mathematical precision entirely for entertainment of non-material profundity, the visual arts could in no way compare to what was felt, and moreover expressed through the reverberating blood-flow of the universe. Dismissing the notion, Amos returned to staring at walls and the several ornaments that lay thither and yon.

Meanwhile, a new tune started in the back of Amos' mind. It was a classical madrigal, with stirring words about the state of affairs throughout the room. It played in the back of his mind like an echo wanting an audience, and he would have yet given it his full attention if not for the present company. So, he stood silently, noticing the light beams on the curtain, and the smell of dust in the corner.
