Werewolves (RP15) The Waking Dawn
Quote from Kaqurei on March 23, 2022, 10:19 pm"I certainly havenae answer to that," Levi said with a shrug in between bites of his haul, "I got up only a few minutes a'fore you did. This--" he gestured to Bianca and then stopped short. "Ermm, m'pologies, miss, I still struggle a bit with everyone's names. What was yers again?" He winced and shook his head. "An' I'm Levi, at that. I know this taint our first time meetin', but... well, so it is. With so many comings and goings it's a wee bit hard to keep it all straight, yeah?"

Quote from Deleted user on March 24, 2022, 2:29 pmOfficer Hughes didn't like this.
It had only been in the past week that he had joined Officer Owen's team assigned to search for "Lee Chang" who went missing a month ago. Prior to that, the Svanaglas thought he was dead, and nothing would be found of him. But with enough pressure, one of the youngins that were supposed to have done the boy in finally caved and informed them that he had gotten away. Now it was Officer Hughes' job to clean up their mess.
Officer Hughes didn't like this at all.
They didn't expect Lee to have survived the storm if he was living on the outskirts of town like reports suggested. Still, they were painfully slow to start their search due to the first storm's damage and a second storm blowing in the next night. Now however, their search began.
Officer Hughes was parked behind Officer Owen's car as he watched the man approach the gate that led into Zeit's property. It was said the owner had gone away sometime now and had not yet returned, leaving the place vacant- a perfect hiding place if the boy was still alive.

Quote from Adriana on March 25, 2022, 8:43 pmLogan didn't know what to say. To say she lost it wasn't a lie-just an omission of the full truth. And she wasn't a liar. But to tell Timothy that it belonged to the bison people was probably a recipe for disaster - knowing him, he'd go looking to get it back. Instead, she chose to keep her silence as she walked back down the stairs.
Bianca meanwhile, responded to Levi with a pleasant smile and nod. "Bianca Chapman. It's a pleasure, Levi." she said evenly.

Quote from Mae on March 29, 2022, 5:10 pmKratos became aware of the officers on the hill long before he saw them, and long before they would ever become aware of him. The wind was blowing north, straight from Reknab Bend to Phantom Mountain, carrying with it the scents of persons and animals several miles distant. Kratos, north of the hill whereon the officers were parked, had the advantage in this respect. He knew what they were, how many there were, and exactly where they were. Kratos removed himself from sight of the road long before they looked down on Zeit's homestead. He made his way to the barn near the cornfield, and there knelt by the door to watch the officers from a discreet position.
*****
Timothy stopped at the top of the stairs and watched Logan and Jackie descend. There could only be so many reasons why she would not speak to him. He perceived her silence to mean that she knew where the flute was and wanted to keep it from him, or that she had lied and intended to keep it herself. Timothy had gone out of his way to ask her for it, and he begrudged an effort wasted. What was more, he felt it unfair and Logan offered no excuse for herself. Timothy was not one to forget perceived malice, and he would remember this.

Quote from Cat on March 30, 2022, 7:35 pmWhen Toby had woken up that morning, he found the familiar surroundings were less familiar. The old furniture was still old, the dusty antiques were still dusty, everything was exactly where it had been for the past 50 years; and yet everything was different. He felt the same about the town: Good ol' Reknab Bend. Everything was just how it was, and yet it wasn't.
As Toby made his way up the mountain, his eyes became glued to his own shoes. He didn't want to look up. After last night, it seemed everything in the world had changed. He didn't want to see the mountain in this new light that was now shed upon it. What's more, he didn't want to see--
Toby's head shot up as sounds from up ahead reached his ears. He was passing near Zeit's farm and noticed a group of people making their way onto the property. Were they police officers? They certainly looked like police officers. Even police officers were different now. How could Granny's revelation have changed police officers?! This wasn't normal. Zander probably wasn't feeling this way.. But, then again, he was probably feeling worse. Toby couldn't even imagine what it must be like to go from being indebted to a grumpy old employer, to being their heir. That must have hit like a ton of bricks-- Everything Granny had told them yesterday had hit like a ton of bricks.
Toby continued to stare, and walk, dumbfoundedly along the path. Though something in the back of his mind told him it was best to avoid these strangers, his mind wasn't really focused on them.

Quote from Indy on April 13, 2022, 1:36 pmJackie followed behind, just a hair's breath away but her presence unobtrusive. In that uncharacteristic silence she lingered like a shadow on the wall. Her expression was neutral, albeit with a slight smirk as though she merely played along to some joke known only to her. Yet inwardly, that calm collected cool was nowhere to be found.
What was she waiting to say?
Each time she thought to utter something, it would flee before it ever reached her mouth. It was the first opportunity to have a conversation with Logan since the day on the mountains - the race, the storm, and that uncomfortable silence gathered around a humble campfire. Every word forward felt impossible. Was it sorry? Was it a question? Was she seeking something from Logan, or wishing to give her something in turn? Was Logan likewise struggling to find the word forward or - no, she was certain, Logan had no thoughts on the matter.
So she followed, and as she did so, happened to catch the glance of Timothy. It was a welcome distraction amongst the unease. While most of the pack might not agree, Jackie thought it would be better to deal with a chaotic, unpredictable werewolf than confront whatever it is she intended to say to Logan.
"What did the flute look like?" she asked, not bothering to hide the matter of her wandering ear. Certainly amongst werewolves, all conversations held within a general vicinity of a person could be assumed public knowledge. Probably.

Quote from Adriana on April 26, 2022, 7:23 pmLogan tensed up when Jackie spoke. "It does not matter, it is gone." she stated firmly, leaving the cabin and closing the door behind her.
--
Bianca peered out of the kitchen and towards the door, then her eyes landed on Jackie and Timothy. "Iiii'm.. gonna go get dressed." she chirped, then made her way upstairs.

Quote from Mae on April 29, 2022, 11:49 pmThe cabin door shut. Timothy still stood at the top of the stairs. Bianca passed by and he said nothing to her, nor looked away. His eyes lingered unpleasantly on the door Logan had gone through. A short silence ensued. Then he looked at Jackie.
It seemed odd that Jackie was interested in his problems. She was not a reliable ally. In fact, the last time she spoke to Timothy, the two were confined in the ditch together. That was more than three months ago. Timothy had avoided her this long and was still not interested in speaking to her.
"Timothy ... You don't realize what an advantage words have to get what you want better than by acting out; you play by the rules of the creature, and it is a sad disadvantage."
Curious to say Timothy remembered the Alpha's words just then... and chose to act on them.
"It is this long." Timothy said. He indicated the length of the flute from fingertip to fingertip.
"The hole is this big," again, he indicated the shape and size of the mouthpiece, this time with his thumb and forefinger. "And there are six holes down it. The last one is off-center of the rest. The color is dark red, like brown. On one end it has oiled leather, and a groove on the other end - on the top. There are small stones in the air chamber that rattle on the inside when it moves. On the outside, it is burned and painted with markings; like the movement of animals out of the mouth and into the wood."
