Werewolves (RP20) When the Mountain Replied

The howl had been a summoning, rather than a request of location, so a tea party seemed indeed to be in the works. Toby nodded. Though he felt it would be polite to offer to fetch the pot for Theo, as a gesture of gratitude for being invited, Toby was reluctant to go back into the cabins. Too many strange things had happened there today. He was thoroughly convinced it was haunted.

"Zaujímavý výber hráčov," commented Sabrina. "Najprv Svalnaglas, potom tvoj muž a teraz ďalší, ktorý pozná Phantom Herb. Sú tu aj iní. Ľudia. Nie lovci. Podľa pachu usudzujem, že sú z Reknabu."

"As for your man," she continued, "We were having an interesting conversation, but I haven't put him to work yet. We haven't quite defined how we treat guests here yet, have we? Every pack has different traditions."

She turned her eyes up on Liam meaningfully. "So far, ours seems to be inviting them for a delightful evening in the Pit." She looked him up and down again. "Don't worry, you don't fit the criteria. But you're a hunter... Aren't you? How well can you track without your nose?"

Logan's ears went back, although it was hard to discern the cause it; for everything that Sabrina said in Slovak was an unfortunate summary of the circumstances.

However when Sabrina spoke again in English, Logan's ears went askew a second time and she exhaled out her mouth in a huff.

"You mean to anger me." she muttered, her expression drawing blank. "It is not a matter, you will have to do better." she said, and began to turn away. "If the humans are not dumb and also deaf, they will hear our howls and stay away." she said, moving back in the direction of the cabins.

---

Liam wasn't sure what to make of the interaction, but when Sabrina's attention came back on him, and Logan was already moving behind the trees, he gave the white werewolf his attention in kind. He remembered the pit and the blonde woman who smelled of another pack, and there was a brief "that explains that" that went over his face as he glanced in the same direction Logan had gone, before focusing resolutely upon Sabrina.

"Good enough, the snow where I'm from will hide most scents." he said, and waited for her word.

Whatever was going on between Sabrina and Logan was not something he wanted to be between, and yet it seemed he already was.

---

Logan prowled back to the cabins and shook off her anger-literally shaking her coat-before she came out of the tree line. She paced up to the goat--yet to be touched--and grabbed it up in one hand by the horn, carrying it to the same tree line on two legs and chucking the carcass there against the trunk of a tree!

Sabrina smirked after Logan, watching her go with equal measures wistfulness and satisfaction.

Then she turned her eyes on Liam again. "That'll do," she said. "The stranger Logan spoke of, he or she will carry no scent. If you wish to be useful, you will find him, or her, and bring them before our Alpha."

That was a good enough dismissal. Liam bowed his head and took to the earth on four legs, much quieter and more swiftly than Logan was capable.

And as he went, Sabrina mused to herself, wondering what he would bring back. For he knew not the members of the Calagrathorm, how then would he tell who was Pack, and who was a scentless stranger?

Theo was happy for Toby's company as he retreated inside. He walked quietly to the kitchen, not a nail on his feet making a sound on the floor. He was ever aware of his mass in the small space. As a large, clawed hand reached for the top cabinet shelf, his nails made not more than the faintest ting.

What he pulled down was an impressive, iron tea pot. It appeared as though it would be large enough for four well-sized servings. It had been well-maintained without so much as a speck of rust inside.

"Would you um, grab some tea cups ?"

Kratos paused on the trail. His golden eyes caught a moonbeam down through the branches, causing a bright glint to shine from under his brow.

"This is not a novice." Kratos said, low and quiet. He chose to speak his thoughts out loud for Jackie's benefit. "Be wary and scout ahead, but do not engage anyone you come across..."

Ulric breathed a short sigh and made sure to walk in a wide circle around Bianca's claimed property. He felt no desire to be bitten by the Den Mother on behalf of a stranger. He left her to her pilfering, and looked toward the dens... there wasn't a lot of sound coming from that direction. The surrounding forest also seemed to be eerily quiet. And the pit had fallen completely silent some time ago.

In recalling the pit, Ulric thought about his encounter with the Svalnaglas women earlier that day... They would both be in their alternative forms now. Their faction marks would be apparent, as would their lies.

Ulric tilted his ear back toward Bianca as he considered going to look...

Bianca was far too engaged with her find to pay mind to Ulric, given he did not threaten to take away her goods. She continued scattering, smelling and mouthing anything interesting, like a puppy who’d torn open a trash bag.

Liam was bright enough to realize the folly in the given instructions, but after spending the late hours of the evening in patient idleness, he was ready to be out from under Sabrina and moving beneath the moons light.

His ego was not great enough that he minded feigning ignorance for an advantage. He lowered his head and lifted his ears, and went to investigate a thing which had piqued his interest in passing, and was at the time dutifully passed up to meet the Alpha. Now he had time and liberty to see that his curiosity was satisfied.

Jackie twitched an ear in Kratos' direction. The surprise on her features was better obscured without the subtleties of human facial expression, yet it remained present in the smallest tilt of her head and a thoughtful swish of her tail. Though she had joined the group on some premise of a hunt, the exact nature of their prey had eluded her until present. From Kratos' words, she surmised it was no humble elk which could defy alpha's tracking.

She would guess their quarry as well used the phantom herb if Kratos was struggling to track them. Without smell to guide her way, it would prove  a challenge. Yet she considered herself in no way limited by it. After all, she had managed to track Ulric to a remote corner of the mountains with scarcely a scent to go on. Thus, she proceeded ahead, crouching low to the ground, and flicked her ears and eyes forward as she scanned for any disturbances.
