Werewolves (RP18) "How the Mountain Greets the Moon"

Logan raised an eyebrow up at Ulric And checked his condition.

“It is a feeling, but I think it is important. Anyway, we can do nothing now.”

She led Ulric to the cabins and held the door briefly, taking one long look over the clearing.

”Ulric. Will you help me to write something?”

Ulric looked at Logan's face to study her expressions, where her eyes wandered and why... he got a sort of strange feeling inside that helped him sober up. Looking much more serious he nodded his head. "Of course," he said.

Logan paused in the doorway for a moment. She wasn’t at ease with everyone spread out. Bianca took jogs occasionally and didn’t take long. She would be back shortly. There was something else, but it wasn’t an urgent feeling, nor was there evidence enough to investigate it.

She took in the condition of the house… a familiar scent was lacking. Logan remembered the last time she detected something amiss in the cabins. It ended well for noone. But before she could consider it deeply, the reason for her earlier concern became apparent; a howl went up somewhere on the mountain!

In this form Logan could neither hear it well enough nor discern the precise meaning, but she cast her eyes out regardless. The voice was clearly male and strong, but not one of theirs. She knit her brow and stepped back outside.

Simultaneously, at that same moment, Timothy scattered into the clearing with his legs spread out like a spider. Kratos had come up the hill behind him, and apparently taken even that sly fox off guard.

Kratos didn't pause a moment. He came out of the woods and lifted his head and voice, answering loud and clear.

****

The boom of the alpha's voice hit the sky over the clearing and Tiffany visibly shuddered from head to toe, though perhaps no one saw it.

Elsewhere in the mountain…

Inuksuk was growing weary faster than he was accustom to. Whatever had caused his sense of smell to dull had become stronger on this side of the mountain. He was disoriented by the sensation and every step he was a hairs width from a long drop or a loose stone that would be the cause of it.

For the first time since before entering the golden valley, he called out in a howl-casting back his white neck and rotating back his thick white ears. He called out with all the strength of his lungs and asked for guideance from the mountain.

When he lowered his head and raised his ears, the sound that came in quick reply was a relief as sweet the first drink of cold water in a warm day. He could discern a lot about the one who answered by the call, and had no doubt in his heart that these were who he sought.

He called out once again in a shorter reply. It conveyed a message that he would arrive by evening. It was both respectful and grateful and bore no threat or challenge. Then he affixed his gaze on the direction the powerful voice had called out and turned his feet and path in that direction.

Surely any creature with ill intentions that heard the power in the Alpha’s voice would not proceed, knowing roughly the size of the lungs and thus the body that delivered the sound!

Logan admired it from where she stood. That Timothy had revealed himself was a relief and she was more at ease.

A few more moments passed and Bianca appeared from the path, headphones around her neck and out of breath from the quick sprint back up the path. She looked around. Nothing seemed wrong, but with the music that was previously blaring she hadn’t heard the reason for the call. She waited to see if there would be an explanation and wiped the sweat off her brow, leaning forward and putting her hands on her knees.

Kratos lowered his head. He did not look entirely pleased... in fact, he looked ill of temper. Timothy noticed it and cowed away from the alpha with his tail tucked between his legs.

Ulric's heart was pounding for the moment, and he had almost entirely forgotten what he and Logan had been talking about a moment before.

"Two in one evening. It's been awhile." Kratos said. He stalked like an animal to the side of the enclosure and looked down.

Ulric tried to meet Kratos' eyes just at that moment, to say he was in the middle of something, but Kratos gave no indication that he saw it.

"You have my ear." He said to the prisoners in the enclosure. "Don't waste my time."

Tiffany took a breath and opened her mouth when -

"Logan." Kratos spoke loudly above the pit, indicating that his attention was not, in fact, entirely on Tiffany and Ami at the moment.

"Logan, where is Sabrina and Jackie?"

Logan looked at Ulric and Timothy in turn. She did not seem affected by Kratos' anger.

"They are not far, together by the stream a mile north," she responded evenly. "You want that I bring them?"

Bianca meanwhile, moved towards the cabins and caught Ulric’s brief glance to Kratos.

Ionone stirred to life with the alpha's presence. She had ate and slept deeply with what was provided.  Although now with some rest and food, her appearance was all the more haggard for it. She glanced upwards at the alpha, dazed, and then shirking her shoulder back to the wall for a continued nap once he dismissed them once again.
