Werewolves (RP15) The Waking Dawn
Quote from Deleted user on April 5, 2023, 3:46 pmNo trace of human or animal tracks were found along the bank of the river the alpha crossed. It appeared if anyone was out there, they had not crossed the river there.
But several yards past the flowing water between the bramble and trees, faint tracks of small shoes could be seen. They disappeared when in contact with the grass and gravel of the land, and reappeared where dirt lay, seemingly to mostly walk along the grass and gravel making the tracks harder to see, but not impossible. One trail headed from the side of the mountain upward towards the peak, while another was seen walking down the mountain until it's trail stopped behind a tree. Being side by side however, the small prints could be seen to be slightly different sizes.

Quote from Kaqurei on April 8, 2023, 1:22 pmLevi chuckled. "Hunters and mafia, an' all!" he cried, like it was some great irony. He realized, with a wince, maybe it was. "Indeedy. S'pose that's the way o' things when yer part of some secret society. That's what any pack be, yeah? Every pack does it different, but we all sing the same song. We hide away from everyone else, whether hiding in with regular folk or hiding out in some secluded place like our mountain here. Hide away, and keep to our own. Still, as I says before, sometime trouble'll find you all the same."
He shook his head and shrugged. Pushed himself to his feet. "Brina said we s'posed to be helping this lot somehow, teach them how to even be werewolves. Guess when you're not born with it, 'tis hard to know." He gave her a double take. "I don't suppose I'd ever heard your story, then? How'd yeh come to be a wolf?"

Quote from Adriana on April 8, 2023, 4:41 pm"Yeah..." Bianca sighed, staring up at the sky.
Temporarily lost in a daze, she caught sight of Levi again and realized he'd asked a question, "Oh," she stammered, buying time as the question finished processing, "I'm a full blood. Long lines, goes way back, it's boring. Not that that's a bad thing, I know most of the people here would be grateful to have a boring history like that." she continued sweeping,
"I don't have a lot of family in traditional packs, I guess - this was just something different than going to school and trying to fit in where I would never really feel I belonged." she finished sweeping the dust off of the steps and propped the broom up against the banister.
"I take it you’re a full blood, too?”

Quote from Kaqurei on April 16, 2023, 10:05 pmLevi smiled a little. "Half-blood here, but equally unexcitin', I should think. Less dramatic, anyways. My da's line is Pure, can track his line right on up to medieval times, 'fore the English came. Ma was human, through 'n through. I hear tell da didn't want me to be a werewolf. Not sure as I can say why. S'pose he wanted me to live a simpler life. Ah, wouldnae that've been somethin'." He shook his head. "Nah, I'm glad to be a wolf. Not sure as I know what or where I'd be if I weren't."
He looked around, suddenly feeling awkward about standing there gabbing while she worked, and she had asked him to help. "There anything you'd have me do, then?"

Quote from Adriana on April 17, 2023, 7:25 pmBianca focused on Levi now, bringing her mind to the present.
"I'm so sorry Levi.." she said sadly, knowing the pain of losing a mother. There was a deep empathy in her eyes. "Don't worry about that - it's not a lot of work. It's good to just, talk.." she leaned her arms on the banister but didn't look away from Levi.

Quote from Adriana on April 17, 2023, 8:29 pmJust talking might have been what Logan needed. In usual fashion, physical distance was what Logan used to place her between herself and her worries. What Ulric revealed was as unbelievable as it was perplexing. Nonetheless, Logan had always trusted him completely. Time and time again he put himself between Kratos and Logan's anger, or that of Logan and Jackie.
As she came upon the apple orchard her pace and breathing became quiet - she caught scent of something up ahead. Slowly and steadily she continued forward.
The apples did not go to waste - a herd of young deer, perhaps born last spring, gathered to feast under the canopy of the orchard. They were getting fat on the apples and the saplings that were sprouting up around the orchard.
Another step sent their ears and tails high up, large round eyes staring in every direction. Logan instinctively lurched forward, but froze - nonetheless, it was too late - she was spotted and the herd bounded away into the neighboring fields. Logan relaxed but took a note of the direction that they ran.
Their presence in the area was heavily marked on the ground, and it seemed the packs upheaval further up into the mountains over the summer had provided a welcome place for them to reside. The orchard was sturdy and it's place closer to the base of the mountain had provided cover from the storm - they were better off than the large trees on Phantom Mountains face. The pack may yet take advantage of the new livestock, but at the time, Logan was unable to transform to give chase, and she alone could not keep up with their speed in the fields.
There was nothing to be done with the new information; it was all at once overwhelming and useless. It raised many questions-and yet who had the answer? There was nobody to ask who could tell her, she could only speculate. She cleared a space under a tree and sat there, and that was where she would stay for many hours if not interrupted.

Quote from Indy on April 21, 2023, 11:14 amIf the feral expression Zeit had given her previously wasn't any indication for her mood, then surely the lapsing silence was. Though no words had been spoken to indicate her transgressions, Jackie had no doubt she had committed one. Had Ulric not arrived at just that moment, then no doubt all of them would have been layed before her feet...
"They're actually not bad--" her voice faltered, catching (or imagining) some look from Zeit.
She glanced towards the door. It wasn't that she was afraid. Afraid was for things like juggling knives, touching fire, jumping off cliffs, and taking the wheel of a cop car. It was the tingle in your fingers that informed you were still alive, and when you survived it, the exhalation that you survived and conquered something within yourself.
What she felt from Zeit was not a tingle in her fingertips, but a sense of dread... There was plenty already that was in store for the day, and she'd no doubt the firey woman would be a harbinger for it in her first moments. So instead, rather uncharacteristically, she offered both Zeit and Ulric a smile and a nod.
"Well... better see where Logan is off to. I'll go dig her up, you two....... catch up...." and with that she was striding out the door.
It didn't take long to find her. Even if she hadn't her fine sense of smell, Logan was like a dark cloud on a summer day. She found her looming beneath the shadows of a tree. Though her expression was often serious, there was an extra weight to it she hadn't seen before.
"Hey," she grabbed a stick that had fallen, and used the edge of it to give her shoulder a light prod, "Zeit's back. But you might want to give it a few minutes".
"Hey," she glanced at her again, giving her another prod with the stick, "You even paying attention?"

Quote from Adriana on April 21, 2023, 11:41 amLogan had learned Jackie's footfall a long time ago. As the woman approached she made no movement, but continued to look on at the light - coming and fading with each rolling cloud - filtering down through the canopy.
Then a prod. And another one. Jackie's voice caused Logan's ears, even in this form, to twitch back a little.. then, she caught the tip of the stick in a hand and yanked it from Jackie, snapping it in two over the knee that was up near her chest.
Logan dropped half of the stick and drew marks in the soil with the other half. They were moon phases, lined up in a neat row.
"Before I came here... I did not consider how the trees grew or why. I did not consider anything that I did not need to. My beginning or my end. I considered only each day." she spoke with a certain clarity and solemnity. The previous two days had worn on her in body, and now her mind also was weary.
Her jacket laid at her waist, and she rolled her sleeve off her shoulder and undid a clasp that kept the decorative cuff about her upper arm. A pale band on her arm remained where it had been - evidence it had not been removed in several years.
She returned her sleeve to her shoulder before rotating the cuff in her fingers, tarnished from being worn so long.
The markings on it were not unlike the markings on Kratos' garments - teeth and symbols that had meaning beyond her knowledge. The inside of the cuff was polished from the sweat of Logan's fleshed, still a gleaming silver compared to the outside. There was writing on the inside, but in a language unknown to Logan.
She pulled her leg closer and held the cuff loosely in a hand, draping that arm over her knee. Her brow was tightly knit and her expression down turned.
"I now know many things now and yet so little."

Quote from Indy on April 21, 2023, 12:01 pmJackie snapped back her hands to wrestle the stick back, but Logan had been too fast - and she looked upon the woman with firm accusation. However, as Logan began to draw upon the earth with it, the expression faltered to curiosity as she watched what she might be illustrating. She studied the pattern of the band in a way she had not ever done before as it was removed, movement having made it a spectacle for her.
Jackie was silent, studying to the earth, and perhaps a little sulky yet not to have her stick.
"What is that from?" she asked simply, motioning to the band.
The question was simple. But her mind turned at the implications. Even she had not forgotten what they had seen that night on the mountains. She was quiet another breath. The thought had gone unsorted until this very moment, and all at once the woods seemed to promise her any number of impossibilities.

Quote from Adriana on April 21, 2023, 12:11 pm"The man in the image I had given you some time ago.. is not related by blood. This is from my father. My parents had left me with him, I did not know why. I did not consider it."
"Now, I am closer to my birth place than ever. Why did I come to this place when I did not know? I do not feel like my footsteps are mine.. I do not feel like my actions are my own. Do I have control of nothing?"
She looked to Jackie, scanning her face for an answer. A day ago Jackie may have seen her laugh in the face of uncertainty when the Sabres pack came upon them, and ignore a dislocated and wounded shoulder. An hour ago she was of her usual countenance. What had changed in only a short time to reduce the confident giant to such a state?
