Her face softened, small smile as she tugged out a canister of cookies, looking to hand it off to the alpha, but stopping, not about dirty up her Granny's tin. "Granny took a tumble, luckily it's only a broken leg, but trying to get that woman to sit still is like herding cats" she soon replied, looking up to Kratos with a chuckle, "She's got spirit, that's for sure, always told me I got my fire from her."
Her smile dropped a bit, but unlike her normal expression, there was a teasing light in her eyes, "if you step one foot into my house like you are now, I will hose you down" she joked, "Alpha or not, I still want my carpets clean."

Kratos looked over the canister and considered the threat. The smile in his eyes was present long before the one that broke his features. "I'll remember that." He said. With a hoist of his arm he set the farmer's luggage on his shoulder, and said, "It is good to have you home, Zeit."
Additionally, in either hand the Alpha carried a different load as he walked with the Beta back to her house.
"Two nights ago," he said with a gesture of his eyes toward the mountain as they approached the front gate, "I was at the peak. I found the remains of an old bridge that spanned the gully at the reach of Deadman's Trail, and evidence of a truly numerous pack that once existed here."
Kratos looked at Zeit to see if this information might be familiar to her.
It was good to see her smile.

“Tell ya what, once you’ve cleaned up, I’ll drag out the chest I have of his belongings, maybe something in there has the answer?” She asked, peering back at him curiously.
The beta watched the alpha for a moment, before following along with the rest of her goodies. “It is nice to be home, nothing like the countryside” she replied as she caught up, becoming curious at what he mentioned next.

"I'll go get cleaned up." He said. Then he looked for Toby. The poor scholar would need to be tidied up as well, if he were still around.
"One of the officers here was Svalnaglas." Kratos told Zeit before stepping away. "It seemed prudent to disguise our scent to keep it from him, but he stepped on the premises. I don't know how much information he walked away with today."****

Kratos nodded. Perhaps Zeit's grandfather also knew what lay beyond Phantom Mountain.
Although Zeit had left the werewolves access to her cabin, no one had been inside it since she'd been away. The door was still locked tight. Kratos set Zeit's luggage down on the porch by the door.

When she came out, it was with the selfsame ballcap, a pair of sunglasses perched on the cap, a jacket tied around her waist, and the small, red canvas backpack she had packed the day before. She set off down the road, saying not a word, and followed down that dusty trail for whatever was to come.
