Werewolves (RP15) The Waking Dawn
Quote from Kaqurei on August 4, 2022, 5:47 pmLevi had turned all his focus onto some pancake crumbs that had fallen on the table. Not because they were interesting. But because poking and rolling them into tiny smooth little balls of dough was something to do. A tiny escape. Enough of an escape to speak, even though Bianca's questions had been to Theo.
"We've seen things too though, havenae we?" he asked. "Glimpses, shadows. But they donnae make any sense. So we donnae talk about 'em, do we?"
He sighed softly. Squished his tiny pancake crumb balls flat with his thumb. A crease appeared in his brow, tense, troubled, not sure whether he should go on. But he did.
"When Alpha Kratos sent Sabrina n' me away back in the springtime--we were supposed to go home. Talk to Alpha Sabres, Brina's da. Smooth things over with him about where she went and what happened with the one called Gathen. He was the one she was sent here to find, mind. Last October, that was. She dispatches the bad ones. The ones that would reveal our little secret to the world, yeh see? This Gathen was makin' too much noise, drawin' too much attention. So she was sent here ta kill him and come straight home. She dinnae. Where I'm from, none o' us heard tell of her for months. That's why Alpha Sabres sent me here. Ta find out what come of her. Anyways. I'm ramblin'. Long story short, we dinnae go home when Alpha Kratos sent us away. Brina said she weren't done yet. Said there was still business to tend to here, 'fore we could go home."
He looked at Bianca now. "Have ya heard of Hunters? Werewolf Hunters? Real ones I mean, not the like with silver bullets and all ye see in the movies. But real ones."

Quote from Adriana on August 4, 2022, 6:06 pmBianca leaned forward, her eyes as wide as a child hearing about Santa Claus or the Tooth Fairy for the first time. Levi drew her in like a magician, with his thick rolling accent (which for the most part, she'd only ever heard spoken in short sentences), and his grasping story. It was almost concerning how little she blinked. Her fingers tensed into a fist, and she bit her lip. She felt like she was in some dark secluded inn, thousands of miles away, surrounded by lanterns and cloaked figures.
"There are hunters, too?!" she exclaimed at the very end, then hunkered down in her chair. "I am so sorry thatwasreallyloud." she added, a lot more quietly. "Uhm-" she couldn't even think of where to start, but it wasn't at the hunters - she still was wrapping her mind around the fact that the woman upstairs tenderly tending to the loner, was essentially a mercenary. Although it never left her mind how skilled Sabrina was, this was news.
"I have... a lot more questions than I did a minute ago. And some of them in part due to your accent - which, side note, is lovely - but that's not the point. Also, why doesn't Sabrina have a thick accent? Nevermind - not the point.. about the hunters, no.. of them? Yes, but until we spent the summer in the mountains - I kind of hoped they were a myth or an ugly legend. My grandfather had done a pretty good job of protecting me from the world. I've already learned so much, and I'm not surprised to hear that we've barely scratched the surface."
She looked to Theo, wondering if he had anything to add to the conversation.

Quote from Indy on August 5, 2022, 7:28 pmAs Bianca's questions and observations came, rapid-fire, Theo simply couldn't keep up. His mind was still half a dream away, back to those mornings he had spent once upon a time with his mother, father, and brother... Fragrant herbs, warm sunlight through the kitchen window, soft-voices and comfort. How could he worry what might come next, when he still couldn't let go of what used to be...
His cue back into the conversation came not in a word, but a glance from Bianca. Suddenly his mind snapped back to the here-and-now, though in his travels to the past, he had misplaced where the conversation had gone while he'd been away.
"I don't know... why Timothy and J-Jackie," the name came out in a stutter - always he had avoided saying it, until just that moment,"turned on Toby that night... w-why Jenn Peters didn't say anything about what she saw - but... but I know it's my fault".
His eyes turned aside, trying to ignore the heat on his cheeks, "I'm the one that turned her - if I hadn't.. if I hadn't... it wouldn't have happened, that night".

Quote from Indy on August 5, 2022, 7:47 pm“No…”
As Logan’s one hand reached towards her, and the other towards the cabin, she could felt two things. One of yearning: to sit down, to be understood, to be held. And one of pain, for she knew it could never happen. That morning she had known it. When Bianca had cut her hair, she had known it. She could not exist with these things, though at times her heart heart wanted the lie so badly she could delude herself.
She knew at this moment what she had always known when she came to “join” the pack: she could not stay. She had ignored that fact for so long, she had entertained briefly she might defy it… but that morning she'd known it was truth.
“I can’t,” she whispered, “I have to go back. It’s the only way I can save her…”

Quote from Adriana on August 5, 2022, 8:49 pmBianca now turned her attention solemnly on Theo. She noticed how his countenance changed. She reached for his hand and touched hers to it, "Hey, Theo. It's alright. There were so many people involved - it's not one persons fault. How could it be? Anyway.. don't take all of the credit, I played a part in that - the smell of a strange werewolf is usually the quickest way to escalate a bad situation." she recalled now that Zander had also been there.
Now she withdrew her hand, and looked to gaze towards the windows outside, where Logan, Jackie and Ulric stood.. she wouldn't be here at all, if not for them.
"It's so weird to think, I didn't even know about this pack until about three months ago. I came for closure - I've learned that I need a lot more than that."
She looked on, but she saw something change from the window in Logan's countenance that made her question the interaction going on outside.

Quote from Adriana on August 5, 2022, 9:08 pmLogan swallowed hard. Her fur figuratively bristled beneath her skin.
"You don't understand what you are doing." she attempted to say patiently, but it was shrouded with tensity.
"You will go - and HE will follow you, until the end of the earth -" she jabbed a finger in Ulric's direction, "And Kratos will have to drag him back whether he is alive or a pelt on the hunters floor."
If history didn't repeat itself...
Logan's eyes were full of pain; anger, hurt, concern. Her skin began to change and in moments, she became a hulking beast before Jackie. She knew Jackie was unable to change forms freely, for there had been many circumstances that called for it and yet none in which she was able to summon it. Logan had the unknown advantage of being at least as second generation werewolf, if her bloodline didn't go yet further back.
She cast a gaze to Ulric, and exhaled deeply - she didn't intend to hurt Jackie, and while she hadn't forgotten the first time they had clashed in the very same spot, this was different. In a glance, she attempted to convey the message-her ears tilting back as if asking permission and forgiveness at once.
Then, she lunged forward as if almost to fall on her front legs, and caught Jackie by the arms! She picked her up, then shoved her underneath her great furry arm as if she were no more than a football. Jackie’s arms were tucked and pinned neatly to her sides.
"ULRIC, open that gate." she growled low, jerking her head towards the pit.

Quote from Indy on August 6, 2022, 11:17 amJackie didn't have a chance to react - in one breath she was retreating slowly, head bowed, and in the next the full force of Logan was upon her. All the air piled out of her lungs as she was wedged firmly by the massive arms of Logan's alter-form. She looked wildly for something to bite or kick but she was both over-powered and her position offered no leverage.
"YOU don't UNDERSTAND," she screamed, still flailing her legs in spite of the futility, "He would KILL HER to get to ME"
The snarl on her lips faltered at the mention of the gate... once, she had made Kratos promise never to place her in it again. But such promises had not been made by Logan. Her body suddenly went rigid, her eyes wide, all the air squeezed from her throat...
Everything was dark except her hand, reaching for the latch. If you love me, he said, you will master your fears. But if you do not, leave and be consumed by fear... The door closed, squeezed shut by her own fingers. She sat alone, entombed in the stale air of her own breath, and never did she know when, or if, it would open again. Was it mastery of fear, or simply a paralysis of it?

Quote from Kaqurei on August 8, 2022, 4:54 pmLevi hadn't been entirely sure if Bianca had asked him a question without deciding it wasn't one she wanted to ask--or thought she should ask--and thus took back. He was still trying to figure it out when he saw the sudden concern come over her and followed her gaze out the window.
He wasn't sure what he was expecting to see, but Logan transforming in broad daylight and snatching Jackie up like a doll wasn't it. He jumped out of his chair so hard it squeaked on the wooden floor before toppling over. Before he was even sure of what he was doing he was at the door--stopped there, his heart pounding, not sure if he should get involved, not sure that he shouldn't--looked back at Bianca, Theo, and yes, even Timothy--before he too shed his human form in favor of the sleek form of a wolf.
Then he was out the door. He wasn't sure what he was thinking... or if he was thinking. There was no way he could take Logan in a fight if it came to that--and he had absolutely no context for what came before or what Logan was doing. But he had to do... well, something.
"What's goin' on? Whatae ye doin'?"

Quote from Mae on August 10, 2022, 9:57 pmIt all happened so fast.
"No, wait - Logan!" Ulric attempted to intervene before she changed, but after that he stayed well out of her way.
"Logan, nothing good is going to come from putting her in a cage." Ulric followed behind, but he did not do as Logan commanded. "Jackie, where is Melinda?"

Timothy had been sitting on the stairs, listening very carefully to Levi, Bianca, and Theo. But he wasn't one to miss a commotion and had been watching Logan and Jackie out the window just as long. When it looked like there really would be some commotion, Timothy met eyes with Levi and raced him to the door. Once in the yard, he jumped well away from the others and stalked to the outside with eyes and interest engaged.

Quote from Deleted user on August 11, 2022, 3:32 amSaber didn't miss the flash in Sabrina's eyes, his own irritation seeming to melt away by it's presence.
He watched in silence as Sabrina mixed up the foreign powders. Then she offered it with the orange juice. Without a word, Saber pushed himself up a bit closer to sitting upright, wincing and groaning in pain in the process. After giving himself a moment to recover, he slowly reached over and with shaky hands took one glass at a time and drank the mixture and some of the orange juice.
